I-95 SOUTH TRAFFIC SHIFT FOR SHOULDER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Traffic will be shifted to the right for seven miles

ALEXANDRIA – Starting tonight, Monday June 3, for approximately two weeks, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be shifting all three lanes to the right on I-95 south from Occoquan, Exit 160 (Route 123) to Dumfries, Exit 152 (Route 234). The traffic will be shifted in segments at night, until the entire seven mile work area has been established.

After the shift, both shoulders will be closed and emergency pull offs will be accessible on the left hand side.

The traffic shift is needed for barrier installation to facilitate safe working areas for the construction crews and traveling public. The majority of the shoulder improvement work will be carried out behind barrier and will not impact traffic.

All closures are weather permitting and police will be on site for motorist safety.
