Fairfax County Seeks Public Feedback on Future Bus Network

Fairfax County’s Department of Transportation is seeking public input on ways to improve bus service with better connections in Fairfax County through the development of its ten year Comprehensive Transit Plan.

  • Public input sought to shape future bus service countywide over the next 10 years.
  • Attend one of the public workshops or take the online survey to offer your feedback.
  • Called Connections 2015, this effort to gather public feedback will shape the Comprehensive Transit Plan and a Six-Year Transit Development Plan that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will approve.

This effort,Connections 2015,” will allow the county to plan for improved and expanded Fairfax Connector and Metrobus service. While recent changes to Fairfax Connector and Metrobus service occurred with the opening of Metro’s Silver Line, Connections 2015 is designed to encompass the needs of the entire county over the next ten years.

According to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the population of Fairfax County is projected to grow by nearly 10 percent by 2025. Employment within the county is expected to increase by an even greater rate— close to 17 percent—over the same span of time, and jobs increasingly will be concentrated in emerging urban centers such as Springfield, Merrifield, Tysons and the Dulles Corridor. As the county grows and transforms, our transit system will play a critical role in reducing traffic, supporting economic development, and preserving our quality of life.  Connections 2015 is the public’s opportunity to participate in the development of the county’s future transit network.
